Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Chairman
Director, IIT Madras

Prof Ramamurthi received his BTech in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras in 1980, and his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara, USA in 1982 and 1985 respectively. After working at AT&T Bell Laboratories for a couple of years, he joined IITM as a faculty in 1986. He took over as Director, IITM in September 2011



Prof Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Co-chairman and Faculty-in-Charge of IITMIC

A well-known figure in India’s scientific community, Prof Jhunjhunwala leads the Telecommunications and Computer Networks (TeNeT) group, which has been IITM’s informal technology incubator launching over 35 companies in the last two decades. More recently, he has been instrumental in the setting up a society for the incubation of rural technologies and businesses – the Rural Technology Business Incubator (RTBI)



Prof Krishnan Balasubramanian
Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department & Head, Centre for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE), IIT-Madras

Active in Nondestructive Evaluation research for more than twenty five years, he has served as a consultant to multinational companies including GE, Corning Inc., BF Goodrich, Gillette, Caterpillar, Lockheed-Martin, Nippon TV. He is currently the PI in sponsored research projects funded by DST, DAE, ADA, ISRO and DRDO organizations. He serves on Editorial Board of Ultrasonics and edits the ISNT Journal for NDE.



Prof Mahesh Panchagnula, Associate Faculty-in-charge, IITMIC (and IITMs RTBI)

A graduate of IIT-Madras and Purdue University, USA, Dr. Mahesh is a Professor of Applied Mechanics and former faculty-in-charge of Centre for Innovation (CFI), IITM.




Dr Ashwin Mahalingam
Associate Professor, Civil Engineering Department and Faculty-in-Charge of E-cell, IITM

A graduate of IIT Madras and Stanford University, USA, Dr. Mahalingam has been involved in entrepreneurship activities over the last decade. He has over 15 technical publications and his research interests are in the areas of public-private partnerships and the role of IT in infrastructure development.


Dr Rajan Srikanth  
CMD, SmartKapital | Co-President, Keiretsu Forum - Chennai/Singapore Chapter

A graduate of the Stern School of Business, New York University and IIT Madras, Dr. Srikanth brings over 30 years of experience in management consulting with senior partner-level positions at Accenture and Mercer Delta Consulting. Srikanth has been actively investing in and mentoring startups for the last 10 years. He also leads the Golden Jubilee Alumni Fund activities of IIT Madras, including the recently formed IITM Entrepreneurship Forum. Srikanth was also an Assistant Professor at the Walter A. Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.


P. Senthil Nathan 
Co-founder and CTO, Benchmark group of companies

A graduate of State University of New York and IIT Madras, Senthil Nathan is a life-long entrepreneur with wide-ranging experience in multiple global technology-related businesses, with major strengths in product development/deployment and engineering management. He founded one of IITM's first start-up ventures, way back in the 80's. He is an active member of the IIT Madras Entrepreneurship Forum, one of the ventures of IITM's Alumni Association, and serves as mentor to a number of start-up and technology based companies.

Dr R. Ramaraj 
Co-founder & former CEO, Sify | Director, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park

Dr. Ramaraj, alumnus of IIM Calcutta, had done his B.Tech (Chem Engg) from University of Madras, and Ph.D. from SRM University. He is a serial entrepreneur who has been involved in ventures in IT, Cellular, and Internet industries. He was associated with Computer Point, India’s first multi-product retail outlet for personal computers and peripherals, and later co-founded Microland, India’s first networking company. He was the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sify which, under his stewardship, became the first Indian Internet company to list on NASDAQ National Market in the US. He later served as a Senior Advisor at Sequoia Capital, and is currently in a similar position at Elevar Equity. His early career included stints at Jagatjit Industries, Berger Paints, and Johnson & Johnson. Read more.
